The Morristown Church of Christ is an
independent congregation of baptized believers overseen by its elders, who are
appointed to serve by the congregation. Current Elders are John Dean, Jim Dempster,
Tom Mongomery, and David Willbanks. We also
have a number of deacons who serve
the church in various ministries.
The church practices simple New Testament Christianity.
Worship sevices include congregational acapella singing, prayers, partaking of
the Lord's Supper, contribution, and preaching based on the Word of God.

Modern day churches of Christ have come from a movement that
historians call the Restoration Movement. Its roots go back to the first
century.
At the end of the eighteenth century and beginning of the nineteenth
century, a number of reformers in various parts of the United States and
Britain began to realize that division in the religious world was wrong, and
sought to end the division by returning to the simplicity of the New Testament
church, thus restoring that church as to worship, plan of salvation, and church
organization.
Thus churches of Christ accept no creed but the Bible, and
strictly follow its teachings. The Bible alone is accepted as a guide for faith
and practice. No other creed, manual, catechism, or confession is accepted as
authoritative.

We believe that Jesus is the Son of God, and that he must be
obeyed. We learn of His will for our lives through the Bible, God's inspired,
written word. We are saved by grace through faith (Ephesians 5:8), and that
salvation is available to us because of the shed blood of our Savior Jesus
Christ. One becomes a christian by believing that Jesus Christ is the Son of
God (Acts 2:37; 8:12; 8:37), repenting of past sins (Acts 2:38; 11:18),
confessing faith in Christ (Acts 2:38; 8:37; 9:5), and being baptized into
Christ (Acts 2:38,41; 8:12; 16:33; 22:16). This experience of being ''born
again'' places us in the church. It begins the life-long journey of ''walking
in the light'' of fellowship with Christ and our brothers and sisters in Christ
(1 John 1:7).
As members of the Lord's church, we strive to put into practice
our Lord's command to demonstrate His love to the world through our love for
one another. We glorify God through our service to Him in the church.
