In Lesson 4 (see attached summary), we saw that our efforts to justify ourselves before God often results in hypocrisy, self-delusion, and disunity among Christians. Sadly we fail many times to see the futility of our efforts along that path, and we also fail to appreciate the unintended consequences of our actions. Through the gospel, Paul had come to see how he could be justified in God's sight. The secret was coming to a proper understanding that God is the One who justifies and we are the ones who are justified. How much better off would we all be if we could keep those simple facts straight in our mind and order our lives and relationships accordingly. At the end of Chapter 2, Paul mentions two words that are closely tied to the gospel---grace and righteousness. Hopefully before our study of Galatians is over, we will be grateful not only for God’s grace but also for His eternal righteousness. For Lesson 5, please readGalatians 3:1-14 and be prepared to discuss:
Amazing Righteousness How Sweet the Sound
It just doesn't have the same ring to it, does it?
Hope to see you Sunday.
